SELECT has clauses for filtering and sorting. SQL keywords are written in capitals by convention:

import sqlite3

con = sqlite3.connect(":memory:")
con.execute("CREATE TABLE books (title TEXT, author TEXT, year INTEGER)")
con.executemany("INSERT INTO books VALUES (?, ?, ?)", [
    ("Dune", "Frank Herbert", 1965), ("Emma", "Jane Austen", 1815),
    ("Beloved", "Toni Morrison", 1987), ("Persuasion", "Jane Austen", 1817),
])

print(con.execute("SELECT title FROM books WHERE year > 1900 ORDER BY year").fetchall())
print(con.execute("SELECT title FROM books WHERE author = ? ORDER BY title", ("Jane Austen",)).fetchall())
print(con.execute("SELECT title, year FROM books ORDER BY year DESC LIMIT 2").fetchall())

WHERE keeps rows that match a condition.
ORDER BY sorts, ascending unless you add DESC.
LIMIT n keeps the first n rows.
.fetchall() returns all the rows as a list of tuples; .fetchone() returns just the first (or None).

Note the trailing comma in ("Jane Austen",): the parameters must be a tuple, even with one value.
