So far each variable has held one value. A list holds many, in order, inside square brackets with commas between them:

fruits = ["apple", "banana", "cherry"]
scores = [72, 85, 90, 64]
print(fruits)
print(scores)
print(len(fruits))

Lists work a lot like strings. Each item has an index, starting from 0; negative indexes count from the end; slices take part of the list; and len counts the items:

fruits = ["apple", "banana", "cherry", "date"]
print(fruits[0])
print(fruits[-1])
print(fruits[1:3])
print("banana" in fruits)

A list can hold any kind of value, even a mixture, and it can be empty: [].
