Computers are brilliant at doing the same thing over and over without getting bored. A while loop repeats its block for as long as its condition is true:

count = 1
while count <= 5:
    print("Count is", count)
    count = count + 1
print("Finished")

It looks like an if, and it works like one that keeps coming back:

Check the condition. If it is false, skip the block and carry on after it.
If it is true, run the whole block.
Go back to step 1.

Each time round the loop is called an iteration. Here the condition is checked six times: five times it is true, and the sixth time count is 6, so the loop ends.
