Brightbill

A small-business invoicing app: clients, line items, VAT, a dashboard that adds up from the real data, and a clean printable invoice.

Try it, live

This isn’t a mock-up. It’s the real application, running on this server with its own database. You get a private copy. Raise an invoice and print it.

Plenty of small businesses run their invoicing out of a spreadsheet only one person understands. Brightbill is the shape of the replacement: a focused tool that does one job well.

What's in it

Invoices are built from line items with quantities and unit prices. VAT is applied per invoice. Every number on the dashboard is computed from the data rather than stored, so the totals cannot drift out of step with the invoices. Each invoice moves through a simple lifecycle: draft, sent, paid, and anything past its due date is flagged overdue the moment it happens.

The detail that matters

The print view is a proper invoice document. Open it, press print, and the browser produces a PDF you could send to a client. No PDF library and no export queue, just a page designed for paper as carefully as for the screen.

The same pattern extends naturally to quotes, statements and client portals, which is why this demo exists: it is the seed of most internal tools I get asked for.

What it does

  • Clients, invoices and line items with VAT
  • Dashboard totals computed live from the data
  • Draft to sent to paid, with overdue flagged automatically
  • A printable invoice that becomes a PDF from the browser
  • Sequential invoice numbering that never repeats
